October 5, 2011: Three Hospitalized with Legionellosis After Ocean City Hotel Stay

Three guests at Ocean City, Maryland hotel Plim Plaza developed Legionnaires' disease after their stay. Investigators are still working to determine whether the guests contracted the disease at the hotel or elsewhere.

Other guests at the hotel were voluntarily relocated after the guests were hospitalized with the disease, according to the Maryland Department of Health and Mental Hygiene. Preliminary results from water samples indicated that there was a presence of Legionella bacteria in the hotel's water system, but final results won't be available until the end of the week.

Those who have stayed at the Plim Plaza since September 1st and develop symptoms are asked to contact their health providers, according to the health department.
